Born in Paris on the 6th of March 1980, Joanna Andraos graduated in 2002 from the École du Théâtre National de Chaillot in Paris. She played in several movies, including Faim de Communication by Caroline Tabet, The Dreamers by Bernardo Bertolucci (walk-on part) and Résonnance by Philippe Robert, as well as diverse plays: Quand Cupidon s’en mêle (production by Laurent Serrano) and Écoute le respiration des mémoires (production by Lina Abiad, adapted from the work of Nadia Tueni),
At the same time, Joanna explores the medium of photography, which constitutes for her an alternative way of grasping the scene and the inhabitable space. In 2000, she creates Appetite, her first photography exhibition in Beirut. Starting from 2002, Joanna commences a creative collaboration with Caroline Tabet as a photographer in the framework of ENGRAM, co-founded by the two artists in 2003. Concurrently, Joanna pursues her work of solo photographer and visual artist making use of diverse processes of mechanical and chemical manipulation of negatives. These processes give her subjects a new dimension, transforming representation into suggestion. In 2005, her photography work Rüna was held in Beirut and in the framework of a collective show at the gallery Chambre-avec-Vues in Paris in September 2006. In 2009, Rüna will be held in Dubai and Paris.
